Varietal: Riesling Vintage: 2023
Colour: White Style: Dry

Producer:
Wild Earth founder Quintin Quider is an expatriate Californian who has spent many years living on the South Island. He has gathered a small, dedicated team to produce his Wild Earth range in Central Otago. Established in 1998, Wild Earth Wines owns 35 hectares of vineyards in two of the region's finest locations - at the end of Felton Road overlooking the Kawarau River and in the North Lowburn district beneath the imposing Pisa Range. Consistently recognised for their passion and impressive style, Wild Earth most recently won acclaim when winemaker Jen Parr was named New Zealand Winemaker of the Year 2020, by Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine.
VINEYARDS:
The grapes for this wine come from the Waitaki Valley in North Otago which is renowned for its limestone rich soils which provide excellent minerality and focus to the wines. North Otago has a maritime climate which differentiates the region from the semi-continental Central Otago region. The limestone rich soils result in wines with a vibrant natural acidity and distinctive minerality.
VINIFICATION:
The Riesling grapes were hand harvested from a single vineyard near Lake Waitaki on 28th April 2023. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes were whole bunch pressed to a stainless steel tank, and cold-settled for two days. The juice was then racked and fermented with selected yeasts at controlled cool temperatures to retain the natural aromatics. The fermentation was stopped at the perfect balance of acidity and residual sugar resulting in a slightly off-dry wine with a long crisp finish.
Product Features: Vegetarian, Vegan
TASTING NOTES:
This Riesling is full of inviting aromas of citrus, fresh blossoms, and green apple. The palate is beautifully balanced with flavours of melon and a touch of pink grapefruit. The long finish and distinctive acidity ensures a great potential for ageing.
Food Pairing:
Pairs exceptionally well with spicy Asian cuisine, fresh seafood, salads, and creamy cheeses. Its off-dry style also matches well with poultry, cured meats, and mildly spicy dishes.
Closure: Screwcap ABV: 10.5%
